1957 Marx, No.2083 Heavy Duty Dump Truck in Original Box
Magnificent heavy gauge steel litho high panel dump truck complete with original illustrated box and insert. Incredible store stock from Harrisburg, Pa, never removed from original box in pristine, unplayed with MINT condition! Extraordinary design with highly contrasted colors of gloss jet black, brilliant orange and trimmed in white. Includes unusual feature of removable high side bed extensions for those "heavy loads". Manual dump lever has never been used (the typical scuff left by the lever on the underside of the dump bed is noticeably absent). In fact I was the first to raise it and I used a cotton pad to keep it from scuffing. Cab adorned with lithoed roof lights, trimmed hood dividers, windshield wipers, hood louvers, side and door handles. Even includes the maximum tire pressure and permit number on the doors. Separately attached grille assembly features a pair of spread wings. The wings and body colors are very reminiscent of Harley Davidson. Trailer body is black with solid plate undercarriage. Orange dump bed with four embossed side sections and an overhanging front panel which extends out almost the entire length of the cab roof. Hinged tail gate for easy dumping was riveted into place rather than pinned. Six heavy tread wheels with steel litho hubs. Original box includes a very nice line illustration of the truck on two panels. Remnants of the original shipping label are still on the endflaps. The other set of endflaps is still factory sealed. The original insert fits into the dump bed to keep the edges of the extensions from rubbing against the inside of the box. Size: 20" long x 7½" wide x 8¼" tall. Sold: Apr. 2005
